Account deletion and data requests

What deletion affects, how to request it, and how to confirm cleanup is complete.

Updated 2026-10-28

Four different actions

  • Sign out: ends a sign-in session, not the cloud account or its data.
  • Leave a family: removes access to that family, not the whole account.
  • Remove a child profile: stops related plans and account links in that family; required history remains. It does not delete the child’s sign-in account.
  • Delete an account: reviews the identity-wide services and families in the preview and submits a cleanup request. Ordinary sign-out is not a substitute.

Request deletion on iPhone or iPad

The current Web Account security page offers password changes, not the full deletion interface. Use the iOS client with this flow; if you cannot access it, contact the privacy address for a data request. Contacting support is not a prerequisite for iOS self-service deletion.

  1. Sign in with the original account and open Me → Account security → Delete account.
  2. Read the complete preview, including services, families, blockers and necessary retained records. Creators must choose transfer or dissolution for relevant families.
  3. Review the effects, confirm and enter the current password. Never send that password by email.
  4. Keep the Deletion progress screen and support code. Check waiting, cleaning, waiting to retry or completed. Query the original task if the outcome is unknown; do not submit a second request.

What happens next

After acceptance, the server revokes sign-in access and performs cleanup. iOS removes the original account’s local caches, timers, reminders, widgets and pending purchase information; unsynchronized timers will not settle. Attributable information is deleted or de-identified under the preview and service rules; necessary shared history and legally retained records may remain.

A temporary failure, waiting-to-retry status or accepted request is not completion. Reinstalling may lose the local progress credential but does not cancel server cleanup. Keep the support code. Personal information manually entered in shared text may need a separate request.

Manage Apple subscriptions separately

Deleting a FamilyMate account does not cancel Apple auto-renewal or automatically refund a payment. Review and cancel unwanted subscriptions with Apple. Buying lifetime membership also does not cancel an existing subscription.
